Universal energy is also referred to as spiritual energy, life-force, chi, ki or prana depending on the background and culture. Universal energy exists all around us permeating everything, from the rock, as matter in its densest form, to the life force which animates that which breathes. The energy can be seen by clairvoyants or as depicted by the swirling colours in an aura photograph (kirlian photography).
We all have our own personal reserves of this energy and when these reserves are low, we may be more vulnerable to illness, tiredness and negative thoughts. When the levels are high we have more resilience, more energy and generally we feel happier in ourselves - it could be the ultimate in anti-ageing, with ample reserves of this energy to help us to stay looking younger!
Universal Energy for Healing
A few analogies can help with understanding how healing works. The first one is that healing with universal energy (or Reiki and other healing systems) re-charges our batteries so that our body begins to heal itself.  It is our own bodies that are doing the healing – not the healer  – the healer is merely channelling the energy for the jump-start. Our bodies have a marvellous capacity for healing. Universal energy has an intelligence of its own, and it will flow within the body or the aura to where it needs to go, similar to the rain which falls on a road, then runs off it and collects in the pot-holes. Another analogy is that our bodies are like sponges which absorb the energy. As the sponge it is only possible for us to absorb as much as we need, no more, we have a saturation point and in this we can be assured that we never get more than we need, nor can we overdose on it.
Channelling Universal Energy for Healing
We can all channel Universal Energy for healing if we wish to; we don’t necessarily have to be attuned to Reiki or other healing systems to begin channelling this energy for others. Something which is commonly used as an example of this within healing discussions is the healing power of love; how the mother who rubs her child’s knee thereby soothes it. We often instinctively do the same for ourselves if we have banged our knee or arm; holding it or rubbing it to soothe it. The expression ‘my heart goes out to you’, when we genuinely feel for another’s circumstances can encapsulate the sending of energy from one person to another. Should this happen to you during moments of great compassion and empathy, you may feel a jump of energy which goes from your heart as healing energy for the other person. When we begin to heal ourselves, and remain centred in love, our very presence can bring healing energy to those around us, as the energy radiates from our auras and mingles naturally with another’s aura, helping to raise their vibrations.
How To
It can be beneficial to try practising healing before being attuned to an energy system such as Reiki, so that we begin to tune into sensing, feeling and experiencing the energy. Via this process we can also begin to develop our intuitive healing abilities.
It is common practise to set the intention that any healing that is channelled, is for the highest good. You may want to call upon your guides, God/Higher Power, the Angels or an ascended master to assist you in channelling the healing and guiding your intuition.  When channelling healing it is good practise to step aside mentally and just ‘let go and let God/ higher powers’; by doing so we let go of any expectations and never claim to cure. Working from the heart, and tuning into the love that you feel for that person or animal will enhance the energy flow by helping to connect with them. Love is healing in itself.
It’s very simple to give someone healing. You may want to read the grounding section as this is good practise when healing and the protection section also, as some prefer to be protected when healing.
By imagining a channel of white light coming through the top of the head and pouring down through the body and out of the hands, the channels of healing are opened.  Standing behind someone who is sitting in a chair, make sure that you are relaxed and comfortable and gently place your hands, fingers together, on or just above the top of their head. You may want to try this with a pet who will sit on your knee (see animal healing section for more information) You may feel drawn to sit next to the person and work on another part of the body where they are experiencing discomfort such as holding their hand because they have arthritis. Pay attention to the places where you instinctively feel drawn to give them healing. The energy will flow throughout the body to where it is needed so it isn’t necessary to be precise; private areas of the body do not need to be touched and healing can be directed through the aura so the body need not be touched at all. This makes it a non-intrusive method for those who are uncomfortable with hands on contact therapies.
Let the energy flow for as long as you feel is necessary or are able to – a quick blast is better than nothing! You may notice tingling or prickly sensations, or heat or cold, in your all of which signify that the healing is flowing. It can be helpful to ask for feedback from the person you are giving healing to when you start to learn. As you gain more trust and faith in your ability to channel energy, the more confident you will get and the easier it is to go with the intuitive feeling about where healing may be required within the body. For instance, you may feel inclined to place your hands on the knees, and the person may tell you afterwards that they have had an achy knee for a while. Occasionally healing can be in advance of something occurring, so the person might not have a problem with their elbow at the time but you may feel drawn to it, and within a few days they knock their elbow. Although we can never say, perhaps their injury will be lesser than it would have been, had they not had the healing.
Afterwards you may feel elevated, more connected in yourself, buzzing even. Some might feel slightly tired or a drop in energy afterwards which could indicate that you are using your own energy reserves, in which case an attunement to Reiki could help open up the channels. It may also be because you need healing yourself; healer heal thyself.
It is a good idea to suggest to the recipient of healing that they drink at least one glass of water to help flush any toxins that might be released from the healing process.
You can also send distant healing to a person or  pet, just by visualising them. Sometimes a photo might help you to connect to them, but it isn’t necessary as long as you have their name and set the intention that the healing be sent to them and state that the healing energy be for the highest good. You may want to imagine white light flowing down onto them from above and seeping through them. Some like to imagine that the person that they are sending healing to is a small figure contained in the palms of their cupped hands and feeling the energy flowing into them this way.
Whatever feels comfortable and right for
you is the best way to go – if you have an idea of how you would like to do it, then go with that, be creative and you may be very surprised at what you pick up on and the feedback that you receive. If you would like to receive distance healing, contact me.
